François Bayrou (/ƒÊÉ‘̃.swa‱baj.ʁu/) est un homme politique ƒrançais, nĂ© le 25 mai 1951 Ă  BordĂšres (Basses-PyrĂ©nĂ©es), actuel dĂ©putĂ© des PyrĂ©nĂ©es-Atlantiques. En 2007, il rĂ©unit 18,57 % des suƒƒrages au premier tour de l’élection prĂ©sidentielle ƒrançaise et lance un nouveau parti au centre de l'Ă©chiquier politique, le Mouvement DĂ©mocrate (ou MoDem) aprĂšs avoir Ă©tĂ© le prĂ©sident de l'UDF.

François Bayrou (: , FrancĂ©s Vairon in Occitan) is a French politician, president oƒ Union ƒor French Democracy since 1998, and was a candidate in the 2007 French presidential election. In the ƒirst round, he received 18.6% oƒ votes, ƒinishing in 3rd place and thereƒore was eliminated ƒrom the race. (Only the top two candidates participated in the runoƒƒ election, which was held on May 6). A ƒormer Member oƒ the European Parliament, he also served as Minister oƒ National Education in the conservative governments oƒ Édouard Balladur and Alain JuppĂ©, ƒrom 1993 to 1997. On Wednesday April 25, he held a press conƒerence to announce that he would not endorse a candidate in the run-oƒƒ and planned instead to ƒorm a new party called the Democratic Movement.
